Leadership is a skill that can be learned. Leadership is influence and through the skills taught during our events, you can increase your influence and leadership effectiveness.
On Monday 8th March 2010, we will host our 6th guru event – “” with
John C. Maxwell – Live and in Person in Nairobi, Kenya. John is the author of 50 leadership books including “
The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership” and “
Leadership Gold”.
- Are you dissatisfied with your current reality?
- Are you willing to put yourself at risk and take responsibility for making a difference while others make excuses?
- Would you like to stand out in a crowd with integrity of heart, head and soul?
- Would you like to find out why leadership is not just about; style, how-to, following some recipe or mastering the vision thing?
- Is your organisation struggling with making decisions that build the trust and commitment of employees, customers and other stakeholders?
- Do you want to understand and manage the conflicting needs of followers?
- Are you able to energize your followers to pursue goals that may seem impossible?
Leadership is not limited to just a singular measure of effectiveness – it is a multi-dimensional phenomenon. VBL is different from other models of leadership because it encapsulates three critical factors:
- Effectiveness – measuring the achievement of the objectives
- Morality – measuring how change affects concerned parties, and
- Time – measuring the desirability of any goal over the long term
In many organizations and in our country in general today ,there is undoubtedly a vacuum of leadership that is “values-based”.
We will create an interactive hard-hitting day of intense learning designed to produce the maximum amount of leadership growth in the shortest period of time. You will learn:
- How to uphold principles and values and still win in life and in business.
- Why the only thing that works is “management by values”.
- Why there can be no disparity between personal and organisational ethics.
- What happens when an organization is characterized by transparency and easy availability of information?
- Why VBL is the only way to deliver long-term sustainable results.
- How to create a culture that is driven by competent people who care about the same things.
During each session, emerging and experienced leaders will be given the opportunity to plan and take on application exercises that will sharpen their leadership competencies.
Participants will be guided on how to implement mentoring moments back in the workplace that challenge them to use what they learn and practice to reproduce and multiply a team of effective leaders.
Participants will establish a leadership action plan that will be designed by the end of the program and submitted to an accountability partner to ensure implementation.
- Anyone involved in leading others
- Corporate Leaders
- NGO Leaders
- Government Leaders
- Anyone aspiring to be a leader
As a result of practicing values-based leadership, these are the results that you can expect:
| |
|
Inconsistency
Unpredictable results yo-yoing from year to year. We rationalize our choices with relativism resulting in situational ethics, moral and ethical bankruptcy - “standards change from situation to situation due to pressure pleasure, power, pride, and priorities”. |
|
Sustainability
Sustainable growth and a positive reputation in the market. Integrity demands consistent behavior. In short, character counts! Ethics are the same across all areas of one's life, whether in business or personal activities. |
|
Politics
Nothing corrupts a culture more than maligned mavericks with hidden agendas. Their predisposition to getting ahead at any cost is almost always at the organisation’s expense. |
|
Transparency
Leadership promotes open communication and readiness to accept criticism, especially from the bottom up. Employees trust leaders who are transparent. . |
|
Turnover
The frequent loss of talented people can happen when leadership, management or process causes friction. |
|
Retention
Employees realize their potential and desire tenure as managers, knowing when to lead and when to get out of the way. |
|
Routine
Otherwise known as a rut. Employees fall into a mindset of survival and ‘clock watching’. |
|
Focus
People understand why they succeed or fail and rally themselves to meet personal goals as well as the long-term missions of the company. |
|
Inefficiency
Lack of clarity about process and responsibilities breeds frustration and anxiety, which promotes an environment of inefficiency. |
|
Productivity
Successful leaders cast vision and delegate responsibility well; intentionality allows hyper-productivity. |
|
Nearsightedness
Failure to see beyond the present reality causes paralysis and an inability to respond to sudden opportunities. |
|
Perspective
Leaders help weigh priorities that affect the reality of the present while managing expectations for the future. |
|
‘Self’ Service
The ‘I just work here’ mentality cripples any ability to cultivate relationships with clients, whether the employee is directly in touch with them or not. |
|
Better Customer Service
Promoting widespread ownership of vision and core values creates company-wide attentiveness to client needs and a desire to provide consistently better products and services. |
