Tom Peters defines the economy going forward as the “reset economy”. This suggests to me that business will never be the same again. Companies and individuals will need to move away from operating out of a “business as usual” paradigm. As we all contemplate the end of the recession and the coming realities of the so-called “reset economy”, the competence and skills of your workforce will, more than ever before, be critical to success.

According to psychologist Daniel Goleman, a combination of competencies that contribute to a person's ability to manage his or herself and relate to other people - matters twice as much as IQ or technical skills in job success. Soft skills complement technical-skills, and serve to unlock the potential for highly effective performance in people qualified with the requisite hard skills.

We at TSL believe that more than ever before; soft skills will be the differentiator of successful organisations and successful individuals. So this begs the question… are you and your staff fully equipped to perform in the new-economy? Or are there perhaps some gaps?

If so, we can help you bridge this gap with the wide range of programmes outlined in the attached brochure.

We would like to highlight a few of our unique programmes next year:

Guru Events

We continue to receive excellent feedback on the value that these events bring to you at a personal and organisational level, as well as their impact on the country

Our first Guru event next year 2010 will be on Monday, 8th March 2010. We are delighted to host leadership expert John C. Maxwell. As an author he has sold over 18 million books. In a survey by "leadershipgurus30", John is rated 1st ahead of Robin Sharma, Tom Peters and Stephen Covey, respectively.

He will walk us through a hard-hitting and insightful day on Values-based Leadership.

Leveraging Teamwork

One of the challenges of the “reset economy” is that the pressures often cause staff to operate out of a scarcity mentality; resulting in organisational strife and unhealthy internal competition. To succeed in business today, teams need to operate out of an abundance mentality and make internal collaboration a key focus area. Teamwork has in fact become one of the most important survival tools.

Our Experiential Team Building programme is one of our most popular programmes to date and it can help you to leverage team work as a tool to meet your organisational objectives and thrive in the new-economy.

Turning Strategy into Reality

Almost all organisations have superbly crafted, and in most cases, well thought-out strategies. The challenge that usually presents itself is; translating that strategy into reality, in other words closing … The Execution Gap! Ram Charan states that 70% of all strategic failures are due to this execution gap and that there is often nothing inherently wrong with the strategy itself.

With the xQ (Execution Quotient) survey you can assess your organisation to identify which of the six critical execution factors have the potential to detract from your ability to execute on your strategy. The xQ tool gives you a clear compass on how your organisation is doing in each of these areas and what needs to be done to bridge any gaps that exist.

In addition, the two-day workshop – The 4 Disciplines of Execution (4Dx); equips teams with practical tools to deliver on their teams’ objectives thus embedding a powerful “execution system” within the organisation to help turn your strategy into reality.

Unlocking Results: Crucial Conversations®

Any training worth its weight does one thing – it helps resolve key problems. What the ‘Intel chip’ is to every computer, so Crucial Conversations® skills are to results. Many discover that problems at every level in their organisations often share the same root cause: perplexed bosses and employees who are not quite sure how to bring up touchy, controversial and complex issues and then resolve them. Whether your organisation is “stuck” in quality problems, potentially contentious or difficult situations, or challenges to team cohesiveness, there are Crucial Conversations that you are either not holding or not holding well that are keeping you there.

When faced with high stakes, challenges and different opinions, emotionally charged conversations ensue. In these conversations we are typically on our worst behaviour! Many of us either step up to the challenge and mess up (try and force their ideas on others) or we avoid the discussion altogether and valuable information is withheld. Either scenario leaves us with damaged relationships and compromised results.

Crucial Conversations®teaches what it takes to master these situations and achieve improved results in everything from productivity to quality to personal relationships. Participants will learn how to share their ideas and concerns – early and often - and avoid, identify and fix problems before they get out of hand. This is a world-class programme designed by Vital Smarts who have over 300 clients from the Fortune 500 companies.

We look forward to continuing to partner with you to provide solutions that will equip you to perform in the new-economy.
